Working with Dr. Linda Gordon, a Child Mental Health Advocate

Working with Dr. Linda Gordon, community pediatrician, public health consultant, and child mental health advocate, allows for the delivery of patient success through health literacy. By understanding the significance of successful mental health care and wellness achievement, Dr. Gordon's consulting services aim to support children and their families in navigating life's challenges towards maintenance and effective illness management.

Achieving Wellness Success through Successful Mental Health Care

Successful mental health care leads to wellness success. Wellness success is achieved when patients navigate life’s challenges to arrive at maintenance and successful illness management. It is my desire, as a consultant, to serve children in this capacity. I seek to aid patient families through the point of crisis to mental wellness. Mental wellness is achieved with the recognition that health literacy is a necessary tool for navigating the behavioral health system. Moreover, my unique perspective permits a personal and professionally informed expertise in health literacy with regards to mental health. I have counseled and witnessed parents and caregivers who lack this perspective needed to access behavioral health care. This lack of medical sophistication is in part due to access and stigma. It is therefore my intention to provide strategies and insights in health literacy ability. Services offered facilitate healthcare access, and the understanding of health information. As well, consulting services lead to effective use of the behavioral health system. I offer my work and expertise in mental health literacy for clients that include families, health care providers, community organizations, foundations, and government agencies.

Collaborating for Optimal Support: The Role of Community Pediatricians and Public Health Consultants

Collaborating with Dr. Linda Gordon as both a community pediatrician and public health consultant permits my thought leadership and strategizing to optimize the role of the family in support of children with conditions of mental health. The work can be tailored to the needs of the child or institution, with attention to cultural competency, vulnerable populations, and an intimate understanding of health literacy challenges in mental health. Consulting services will attend to all children with mental health needs. However, given the diversity of consulting partners, special attention can be given to rural children, children of color, and children in poverty.

The key strategy for improving health literacy for child mental health is to offer consulting services that build upon print and social media advocacy. This advocacy is the work of Childverse, Inc. and Dr. Linda Gordon of which consulting is one aspect. Behavioral health consulting for child mental illness, will produce those materials that are accessible to patients and the organizations that serve them. These materials will align with the message of hope and evidence-based recommendations that benefit mental health care for children. Health literacy teaching will for example answer basic questions on illness conditions as well as outline available resources for home, school, and healthcare services. Client education in this regard will empower and destigmatise. Health literacy thus arms client families, children and service organizations with informed expertise that gives insightful direction to wellness success. The information, education and thought leadership given is personal, professional, informed, and accurate.

Summarily, health literacy for child mental health includes subject matter expertise and collaboration with healthcare, parent, and advocate partners to deliver the patient success we all wish to see.
